DON'T BELIEVE DRUDGE

Who would belive Matt Drudge anyway! He's a second rate tabloid reporter who Carl Rove uses as a shill.

He's now reporting that Howard Dean is attempting to get rid of DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe.

Joe Trippi's response to this tripe is here: Blog for America

Keep in mind folks the Carl Rove strategy is to Divide and Conquer. Rove is placing reports all over the media of Democratic infighting and false reports of the nine democratic candidates slamming each other. It's the Rove plan to have the Democrats divided when the final candidate is chosen to run against Bush.

Don't fall for it

Getting It and Not Getting It
So, here is what I am wondering...I am thinking that many of the people who still do not understand our grassroots campaign are now grasping at straws.

There is something a little ironic about those who never saw us coming, now running out and declaring what it all means, and all the faults with our approach to things. Like there is something wrong with encouraging people to get involved in our democracy again.

So here is the question. When we look at all the dollars raised by the other campaigns -- are they going to claim that those that contributed to them are somehow more representitive of the Democratic Party -- or America as a whole?

When they have far fewer contributors than Gov. Dean? And those contributors giving a much higher average donation to their candidate of choice?

Does any candidate's contributors reflect the full fabric of American society?

Well any honest look at the facts would have to suggest that a campaign with 59,000 contributors who contribute an average of $112 is a lot closer than the campaigns raking the bulk of their money in through those that are wealthy enough to contribute $1,000 to $2,000.

Not getting it is to now spin that we are not reaching everyone -- well we are reaching a lot more people than anyone else.

Not getting it is to see our campaign as Internet driven -- and miss completely that we are message driven. And that the Internet is just one more way to reach people with that message.

Not getting it is to miss the fact that in Austin, Texas volunteers leafleted the Latino community, made phone calls. and had 3200 people turn out to a rally for Governor Dean.

Not getting it is to underestimate what a small but growing group of Americans can accomplish when they work for the common good.

Getting it is continuing to reach out, continuing to build the strongest grassroots campaign in history. And yes that means reaching out to everyone, and using every approach, old or new, to do so.

We are the great grassroots campaign of the modern era. Yes that campaign is built from mouse pads -- but also shoe leather -- and more importantly it is built on the hope of people willing to sacrifice some of their time, and money to strengthen our democracy and to reach out to all Americans to join in that great cause.

Do we have a lot of work to do? Absolutely. That is Governor Dean's message -- reclaiming our nation's destiny, and undoing the damage done by the Bush administration will require the hard work of millions of Americans. 180,000 have heard the call.....and counting.
